Aloo Tikki- Indian hash browns.

Hi! How are you people doin so far. Are you people craving for a mashed potato snack infused with warm indian spices? πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‰ You no need to wait for street food anymore. You can make it at your home without much effort! Let's try this!

You just need:

  1. 5 potatoes
  2. 2 spoons rice flour/ Corn flour
  3. Spices ( Garam masala, Coriander powder, jeera powder, salt, chilli powder, ginger garlic paste etc) - 1 spoon each
  4. Some oil to shallow fry.
  5. Some butter- (Optional.)
That's it! Let's prepare.

Step 1: Boil the potatoes  for 20 mins or so till they become mushy so that they get easily mashed. Don't over boil or under boil them.

Step 2: After they are boiled, transfer them into ice cold water or freeze them as long as you want from 10 mins to 1 hour. This step is to get that extra crunchy patty.

Step 3: Now dry them up completely and peel the skin off.

Step 4: Mash the potatoes and add the above spices, rice flour and make it into a dough form.

Step 5: Separate the dough and make it into a patty form as shown below. Keep them aside.

Step 6: Now, In a non stick pan, add oil upto half of the pan line for shallow frying. Add the patties/ tikkis into the oil and fry them on both sides 3 mins each on medium flame. Make sure they get fried on sides as well in the oil. BE CAREFUL. Use a good non-scratched non stick pan so that potatoes won't stick to the pan. Rice flour takes care of it anyway.

Here, add 1 small chunk of butter on each patty to get that extra flavour.

Step 7: When they get into golden brown colour, Turn off the stove and transfer into a plate.
Serve them with butter, bread, parathas or garnish with coriander and onions. YOUR WISH! It's perfect time to get creativeπŸ˜‰

Voila!

Stay tuned for more!πŸ˜‹
